Knowing Jesus’, a retreat open to all who are interested in getting to know Jesus better. Christian tradition believes that the person of Jesus Christ reveals God to us. If we are to follow Christ and imitate him, we need to know him through his words and actions as shown in the Gospels.
Walk with us through Lent and Easter and really come to understand and love Jesus. We will ponder Gospel stories, reflect on their meaning and see how startlingly relevant Jesus is to living a truly human life in the 21st Century. This retreat, produced in Scotland by the Society of Jesus – Jesuits – a Catholic religious order, is open to all throughout the world. https://www.onlineprayer.net/ Sister of Mary have produced over 30 E-Retreats both small and more-lengthy, which are available through our website www.schoenstatt.co.uk
Bethany Christian Trust has launched the 2021 Bethany Sleep Out At HomeAs the Covid-19 pandemic continues and we remain under strict government restrictions with Churches are still unable to gather, we would love to invite your Church to get together virtually through a different and new way to support Bethany Christian Trust.
On Friday 19th March, we are taking the Bethany Sleep Out ONLINE and bringing the spirit of the Sleep Out to everyone at home, virtually. Rather than sleeping out in one big venue, we are asking people to sleep out at home and choose secure, isolated environments such as private gardens, allotments, garages or even forts in living rooms – wherever your Church members are the choice is theirs! We think that this event could be perfect for youth groups or older kids' groups who may enjoy raising funds together for a goal, however it will definitely be suitable for all ages and all are welcome. Throughout the evening we will be livestreaming some exciting activities and entertainment before everyone beds down for the night. If people sign up before Wednesday 10th March they are guaranteed to receive a Sleep Out pack containing lots of special supplies to keep them going in the cold. Many people experiencing homelessness or precarious housing situations have struggled to find a safe space to self-isolate or socially distance throughout the pandemic. Could members of your Church give up their warm and comfortable beds to honour men, women and families who use Bethany services and raise vital funds for our work this year? Here are some examples of the difference their support could make: - £40 could provide an emergency food package for someone starting a new Universal Credit claim, including food, laundry detergent, toiletries and sanitary products for female tenants - £138 could buy 1,000 compostable cups and lids for our Care Van volunteers to serve hot drinks and soup to those experiencing food poverty - £225 could fund a place on our Bridge to Freedom programme for someone starting recovery from addiction. It doesn't matter where they Sleep Out, all that matters is that your church members would be supporting some of the most vulnerable people by coming together this year and making a noise online! So please help us spread the word and ask them to join us to raise vital funds and get ready to Sleep Out at Home! If you think your church would be interested, they can sign up at the link here: https://register.enthuse.com/ps/event/BethanySleepOutAtHome This Lent, our WEE BOX appeal looks at the ongoing crisis in South Sudan where a generation of children with disabilities are locked out of an education and trapped in a cycle of poverty. Together, we’re helping children with disabilities in South Sudan to access the education and support they need to build a bright future.
We have lots to share with you about the appeal, so read on for everything you need to know. You can order wee box online or pic up them from the parcel drop box at the door of our parish house. ![]()
